Volunteer Teams of Airport Guides, Drivers, Interpreters, Media, Medical Professionals, Security Personnel, and Installation Experts Dedicate Themselves to Ensure the Success and Safety of the International Event

A monumental peace event took place in South Korea from September 18th to 20th, achieving seamless operation and garnering high participant satisfaction. Themed “Implementation of Multidimensional Strategies for Institutional Peace,” this global peace event, hosted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), received invaluable support from a dedicated team of 2,000 volunteers. The event welcomed over 800 global leaders hailing from 121 countries, representing diverse sectors including politics, education, youth, women, media, and religion from across the world.

Central to the event’s success was the Airport Team, tirelessly working to ensure the smooth arrival and departure of participants. Their responsibilities ranged from issuing visas to ticketing, ensuring participant safety, and managing unforeseen flight disruptions. Their unwavering commitment to safety and order guaranteed a seamless airport experience for all.

The skilled drivers from the HWPL Convoy Team, another group of volunteers, meticulously inspected vehicles to transport participants with comfort and safety. Their professionalism and dedication left a lasting impression on all visitors. In total, volunteer drivers covered an impressive distance of approximately 800,000 km, equivalent to 20 trips around the globe.

Volunteer interpreters played a pivotal role in facilitating communication during summit sessions. Their dedication to bridging language barriers ensured a meaningful experience for all involved. One volunteer interpreter stated,  “All of the 800 guests participating in over 30 sessions require interpretation. And all materials have to be translated into over 20 languages. Not only private organisations but also most national forums do not operate on such a large scale. Our HWPL interpretation and translation volunteers are carrying out this entire process,”

The broadcast media team, consisting of 208 volunteers, worked diligently to capture and convey the essence of the summit to a global audience. One volunteer noted, “I believe that our videos serve as a powerful tool for spreading a culture of peace, making this event accessible to people around the world in various languages,”

The medical department provided a wide range of healthcare services, from emergency medicines to simple digestive aids, throughout the event. Comprising active doctors, oriental medicine doctors, and nurses who volunteered their expertise for peace, this team ensured the well-being of all attendees. The Medical Department’s team leader explained, “Because it is an event held by a private organisation, many people do not know whether a medical team is prepared.” He added that guest room visits for medical check-ups were also conducted.

All personnel in the Security Department, responsible for the safety of participants, were volunteers comprising able-bodied men and women who came together for the cause of peace. The Deputy General Manager of the Security Department stated, “For the event, about 400 Security Department members received continuous education and training starting in March with actual simulations.”

The installation team played a crucial role in setting up the event’s infrastructure, handling electrical setups, stage installations, and maintenance throughout, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees.

“All of these volunteers, driven by their passion for peace, are working tirelessly to support the peace summit, and their unwavering commitment is truly remarkable. We HWPL would like to appreciate their dedication and hope that the government will support this peace movement,”  said an HWPL official.

HWPL, a South Korea-based international peace NGO affiliated with the UN ECOSOC and the UN DGC, has been leading global peace initiatives for world peace and the cessation of war since its establishment in 2013. It should be noted that South Korea recently faced challenges with the 2023 World Scout Jamboree, characterised by inadequate management and a government apology, in contrast to the successful execution of this peace event.
