Last night, Boisdale Canary Wharf in London played host to the 11th annual Boisdale Music Awards, a celebration of some of the greatest names in the worlds of soul, jazz, blues, rock, reggae and pop. The prestigious event was hosted by Boisdale’s Patron of Music, Jools Holland, alongside musician and broadcaster, YolanDa Brown.
The night was filled with unique and unforgettable performances, from Kathy Sledge’s rendition of Sister Sledge’s We Are Family to a surprise finale featuring Jools Holland and his band joining forces with soul superstar Gregory Porter for a take on Muddy Waters’ Hoochie Coochie Man. There were also performances from soul Queen PP Arnold, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Alabama 3, newcomer Polly Gibbons, Mud Morganfield and The Brand New Heavies.
The evening began with a reception in The Hine Bar & Garden Terrace, where guests were served Chateau D’Esclans Rock Angel Rosé 2020, Veuve Clicquot NV Champagne and Oxley Gin & Artisan Classic London Tonic. 240 guests then flowed upstairs to the main restaurant for a three-course dinner and the Boisdale Music Awards. After the awards, guests danced the night away to legendary Mi-Soul DJ Ronnie Herel in The Hine Bar & Garden Terrace.
