The London Legal Support Trust (LLST) has announced the return of the Chichester Legal Walk, set to take place on Tuesday 12 September. Led by HHJ Sarah Earley, the 10km sponsored walk is aiming to unite local law firms, barristers’ chambers, advice agencies, in-house legal departments and students to raise both awareness and funds.
Last year, over 100 walkers took part in the event, and the organisation is hopeful of exceeding that number this year. Demand for advice services, particularly in the areas of debt, benefits, homelessness and housing, has increased dramatically due to the cost of living crisis, making the funds raised by the walk more important than ever.
Bob Nightingale MBE, Head of Fundraising and founder of LLST, said: “As the cost-of-living crisis takes its toll on people up and down the country, it’s more important than ever that we come together to support our local advice agencies. Free legal advice is a fundamental human right, and the incredible advice agencies that this event supports are increasingly in demand.”
The Walk will start and end at the Chichester Festival Theatre, with participants arriving from 4.30pm for a 5pm start. A free drinks reception will take place at the end of the Walk.
Organisations and individuals passionate about helping the local community are encouraged to sign up for the event, with LLST setting up a fundraising page to assist with donations. Those interested in taking part can find out more information on the LLST website and/or register via a short form.
