The Chilterns Neuro Centre has been awarded £150,000 per year for three years by the National Lottery Community Fund. This will be used to treat and support more local people affected by multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s or strokes.

Richard Parkin, chief executive at the Chilterns Neuro Centre, said: “This incredible amount of money is going to make a massive difference to our charity and to the local people that we support. It gives us some security of funding for our frontline services and will enable us to confidently open our doors to welcome more people with neurological conditions who could be benefitting from our wonderful facilities and expertise.”

The Wendover-based charity has been at the forefront of providing support for people with MS for almost four decades. In 2022, they widened their services to include people with Parkinson’s and stroke survivors. They offer a range of specialised therapies, rehabilitation programmes and emotional support to address the unique needs of each individual.

Carolyn Bain, a member of the Centre, said: “The Centre provides a real lifeline for me, it’s just amazing. The physio I receive helps improve my overall mobility and the social groups provide an incredible support network that really encourages me and keeps me going when times are hard.”

The £450,000 award from the National Lottery Community Fund is a significant contribution, but the Chilterns Neuro Centre still needs public support to help them raise over £1 million each year to continue providing vital services to the local community.

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund is the largest funder of community activity in the UK, and this award to the Chilterns Neuro Centre is just one example of the positive impact lottery funding has on people’s lives.

Anyone affected by MS, Parkinson’s or is a stroke survivor and feel feels they would benefit from the services offered by the Chilterns Neuro Centre can get in touch by phoning 01296 696133 or by emailing info@chilternsneurocentre.org.
