Accuro, a small charity supporting local children, young people and adults with disabilities in West Essex, has received a generous £10,000 grant from the Openwork Foundation.

The grant will go towards staff, transport and activity costs associated with delivering Accuro’s social and activity projects for a year for both children and adults. These services reduce social isolation and empower members by providing accessible social and leisure opportunities that allow members to develop life skills, gain confidence and self-esteem and make friends.

Amy Connelly, Operations and Development Manager at Accuro, said: “We are thrilled to have received this generous fund from the Openwork Foundation. Grants such as this enable us to continue to offer quality services in and around the community and much-needed respite time for families and carers.”

The Openwork Foundation has donated more than £21.5m over the past 41 years, supporting vulnerable children and adults in the UK and overseas. Through grant, fundraising and volunteer programmes, the foundation has engaged businesses, advisors and colleagues in The Openwork Partnership to support their local communities.
