A groundbreaking and immersive attraction, the BBC Earth Experience, has opened its doors in the heart of London. This unique experience offers visitors the opportunity to explore the remarkable diversity of our seven continents on an epic scale, featuring custom narration by Sir David Attenborough. Moon Eye Productions, the producer, and ES Global Solutions, the main contractor, enlisted Neptunus to construct the temporary structure that would house this extraordinary attraction.
The BBC Earth Experience showcases captivating footage, including extended scenes, to fully engage visitors, accompanied by the mesmerising music from the BBC Studios Natural History Unit television series, “Seven Worlds, One Planet.” Utilising state-of-the-art digital screen technology, the attraction projects these visuals onto multi-angle screens, creating a fully immersive environment. With a footprint of 1608m2, this London attraction offers an awe-inspiring experience, transporting audiences of all ages into the wonders of the natural world.
The immersive experience takes place within The Daikin Centre, which was designed to be both sustainable and demountable. Neptunus provided the perfect solution by constructing the Evolution structure. The Evolution is a temporary building that can be rapidly assembled, featuring insulated and soundproofed roof and wall panels. This versatility makes it ideal for long-term events or studio settings. Neptunus completed the structure in December, incorporating multiple multi-angle screens suspended from the roof and employing the latest digital screen technology, ensuring visitors are fully immersed in the extraordinary diversity of the seven continents.
Ben Keast, Managing Director of Neptunus Structures, expressed pride in providing their temporary structures for the BBC Earth Experience. He highlighted the Evolution structure as the ideal solution for such projects, citing its previous successful use in London for various applications like the LTA cinch Championships and Masterpiece Art Fair. However, this marks the first time the Evolution structure has been constructed at a height of 15 meters in the heart of the city. The building’s size, scale, and effectiveness make it a perfect fit for this particular application, resulting in a truly fantastic outcome.
